The former Executive Vice President of the IAASP Fred Morrone was a victim of the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center. He died along with 36 other members of his department attempting to rescue survivors. The largest number of police officers killed in anyone given day, anywhere on the globe.
Fred was the Chief Officer of the New York! New Jersey Port Authority Police. He was concerned about the lack of professional port police training for police officers from third world countries and was working with the lAASP on his vision and plans to establish subsidized training programmes for poorer nations within our membership.
Following Fred's untimely death, the lAASP International Board resolved to continue the initiative and to establish a strategic plan to make the Education Fund concept become a reality, in Fred's memory. The Fred Morrone Education Programme as the lAASP called it, relies mainly on donations and/or fund raising activities. It nearly fizzled out recently though, when the selected training centre could not continue its support.
The Dutch members of the lAASP have been outstanding in their support of this fund development and are now currently examining new ways to provide further assistance and training themselves to keep it going. They are presently looking into ways that International Ports Police Students can receive training at their own leading national Maritime College...

The lAASP relies mostly on membership dues and Conference profits to meet its financial obligations and operating costs. It now needs Individual, Business and/or Corporate Sponsorship and Grants, if it is going to meet its future obligations
If you would like to be a partner with the lAASP in this worthwhile educational programme, your financial assistance to the fund would be most appreciated. We would also welcome any offers of assistance that you may be able to provide in regard to subsidized training courses and accommodations.
Join us in this important cause and help to keep Fred's dream alive, by adding your
support by helping in the development of professional port policing skills for our less fortunate colleagues.
If you have any questions at all, or need further information about this programme, please do not hesitate in contacting the Secretariat or any member of the International Board.
Mike Toddington Executive Director.
